Go beyond the usual tourist bus experience on this tour that takes you out of Mexico City to see Teotihuacan pyramids and more.
Experience a night among Mexico’s holy trinity of entertainment: cantinas, mariachi, and Lucha Libre wrestling. Visit the famous Garibaldi Square, always alive and famous for being set with mariachi music and other traditional rhythms, drink some tequila and mezcal at the very first cantina established in Garibaldi, know the history and curious facts of these spots by the hand of a local guide. Put on your mask and watch a freestyle wrestling match and learn all the Mexican words to cheer up your favorite wrestler.
Language: English
Inclusions: Local bilingual tour guide, public transportation, visit to different cantinas, a souvenir wrestler mask, and entrance fees to the lucha libre.
Exclusions: Items of a personal nature, all food and beverages, entrance fee to the clubs, tips/gratuities for the guide and waiters.
Ready to get up close and personal with one of Mexico’s most popular sports? It’s going to get exciting!
Our unique Mexico City tour starts at a typical Mexican pub called a cantina. Here, you enjoy a couple of drinks (at your own expense) and get to know the rest of the travelers on your tour. Most importantly, though, your local Urban Adventures guide gives you a briefing of what’s in store for the rest of the evening, including the basic rules of the eccentric lucha libre.
As we drink, you learn about the story of tequila and mezcal, and your guide gets you up to date on Mexico’s world-famous party culture, from mariachis and jarochos to banda music.
To keep the excitement of the night going, we head to another cantina by the Mexican musician’s square of Garibaldi, where we experience mariachi music and many other Mexican music bands. We enjoy the atmosphere of the square for about an hour before heading out to the arena to support the best luchadores of the country.
Lucha libre (a.k.a. Mexican wrestling), is the second most-watched sport in Mexico and hands down one of the most exciting things you can do while visiting Mexico City. For a truly local experience, we hop on the subway to the Arena Mexico to catch the fight. We get you good seats in the arena so you can truly live the experience and see the best matches of the night.
Immerse yourself in the crazy, exciting, energetic atmosphere of the arena and really get into it — scream and whistle whatever you want — while you experience unique and dramatic lucha libre moves like La Quebradora, El Martineta, La Segadora, and many others. You get to watch some of the best wrestlers in the country in an experience that is sure to leave you awestruck for the two hours you spend at the fight.
At the end of this unreal experience, you have time to buy some souvenirs, like the mask of the best wrestler you saw in the show, so you can take some fun photos with your masks on.
After all the dancing, singing, drinking, and cheering, we’re ready to go back to where it all began, our meeting point, where your guide can offer suggestions for where to continue the party. If you prefer to hit the hay, you can take a cab back to your hotel with the help of your local tour guide.
Dress standard: We recommend dressing conservatively as we visit non-touristy areas. Long trousers or jeans and a t-shirt are the recommended attire. Leave your valuables, such as passports and credit cards, in the hotel and bring a small amount of spending cash. During the rainy season (May to September), we recommend bringing a raincoat or umbrella.
Your trip: For your Urban Adventure, you are in a small group of 12 people maximum.
Confirmation of booking: This tour may be cancelled due to special events, so it is important to confirm your attendance prior to the tour in case of a last-minute change. Please confirm the tour 24 hours before departure on this number +52 55 6391 5454.
Additional Information: The order of the activities varies on Sundays because we go to the lucha libre first. Please note that, if the group size exceeds eight persons, then we take private transport instead of public transport.
IMPORTANT NOTE: No cameras or bottles are allowed in the arena. If you bring a camera, you have to leave it at the entrance in the camera storage. Pictures with cellphones are allowed without flash.
Child policy: Children and teens under 18 years of age are not permitted on this tour.

We had such a great time on this tour! Our tour guide Ady was awesome! She ensured we had a great time and made the wrestling match super fun! We all had quite a bit to drink and none of us can remember if we tipped her! I hope we did, but if we didn’t please let Ady know she was amazing and we regret forgetting to tip her!
Mr. Robert B. from USA travelled on 18 Apr 2019:
The tour and my guide, Julio, were both excellent. The lucha libre was so much fun, the Tequila Museum was interesting, and the mariachis at the restaurant were fantastic!
Ms. Kayla F. from USA travelled on 08 Apr 2019:
Julio was a great guide for our first night out in Mexico City. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and got to know everyone in the group despite only being with us for an evening. He shared plenty of local insight, contributing to a great night out. Would highly recommend this tour.
Ms. Liv S. from New Zealand travelled on 19 Mar 2019:
Amazing tour in Mexico City! Covered a lot of ground and really got to experience an authentic Mexican night out. Our tour guides were also amazing; lots of fun and had lots of knowledge about the areas we visited. Definitely recommend, 10/10!
Mrs. Jessica W. from USA travelled on 15 Mar 2019:
We had a terrific night out. It was a way to blend in with the locals, hear the music, see the sights, all at a relaxing pace. The tour was way more personal than you expect, and was very different to the other offerings available. And it was great to hang out with other like minded people too. Urban Adventures has definitely nailed a niche market.
Ms. Robyn A. from Canada travelled on 23 Feb 2019:
I had the best time on this experience. Julio is an amazing guide – kind and knowledgeable, with lots of fantastic information. Best of all, he might be the biggest Lucha LIbre fan ever – half the of the fun of my night out was watching him get into the matches. He was also great at explaining it all to us and teaching us a few – slightly naughty – things to yell at the fighters. At the end of the the night, he and another guest walked me safely back to my hotel as I was traveling alone – I really appreciated that he went above and beyond. Can’t recommend this experience enough!!
Ms. Genevieve V. from Canada travelled on 06 Jan 2019:
The tour was good, the guide was very enthusiastic which made the night a lot of fun.
Ms. Kelly J. from Australia travelled on 06 Nov 2018:
It was a really great tour but for me it was a little long at the wrestling
Mr. Wessley M. from Australia travelled on 26 Jul 2018:
Great night of Mexican Culture (if you can call Wrestling culture!) but maybe visit the one Cantina for drinks and food rather than two. Also the tour description doesn’t make it clear that eating at the Cantina is part of the night so we ate early, sadly. We were blessed with Julio as our trainee guide (who we’d had the day before at the Temples of the sun and Moon) and he is a star. Went above and beyond in helping us secure an Uber at the end of the night too. The lucha libre is a hoot.
Mr. Gustavo G. from Mexico travelled on 16 Jun 2018:
Cesar is a grest guide! He took the 4 of us to the most mexican way to have fun! Once we got together, we walked to the “Metro” (subway) and after few stops we showed up in a couple of blocks to the Arena Mexico where we participated in the traditional Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling) He gave us wrestler masks as a gift! after cheering our favorites wrestlers and giving us the explanation of what we were seeing, we ride back to Mexico City downtown where we went to this incredible museum of the tequila and mezcal where Cesar gave us a great explanation of this very old process, then we gad shots included!)once we tried the different flavors of the Mezcal and Tequila he took us to this cantina where we were able to ask for any drink we wanted while the Mariachi was playing for us, Cesar singing, of course! Totally recommend it!
Mr. David P. from USA travelled on 21 Feb 2018:
It was a third trip with you in Mexico City. Everything was great. We expect to use Urban Adventure even more in the future.
Ms. Namrita A. from Canada travelled on 13 Feb 2018:
Had lots of fun with Roo, he was also knowledgable about the sites around the city.
Ms. Madeline M. from USA travelled on 30 Dec 2017:
Rodrigo was amazing!!!
Ms. Rochelle J. from Australia travelled on 12 Sep 2017:
This tour exceeded my expectations! I was running late as my flight was a bit delayed, however Nathan made it super easy to join the group and made me feel very welcome. It was an awesome first impression on Mexico City and a great kick start to my holiday. I was nervous of going to Garibaldi square and Lucha Libre by myself so it was fantastic to have a group to go with and so much fun to be with like minded travellers.
Ms. Brooke W. from Australia travelled on 24 Aug 2017:
Awesome guide! Had so much fun!
Ms. Carly R. from Australia travelled on 13 Aug 2017:
Excellent level of knowledge, and local insight! A great evening out. If you’re heading to Mexico City, this is a must do.
Mrs. Teresa H. from USA travelled on 11 Jul 2017:
Luis You were AWESOME! I traveled alone and did this tour to meet new friends which I did! I had an amazing unforgetable night! Thank You Luis hope to see you soon when I return to Mexico. Looking forward to the Love Taco Tour! Thank You So Much !!!! Highly recommend everyone that visits Mexico City to do this tour!
Mr. Glen B. from Australia travelled on 19 Jun 2017:
Such an amazing tour. I got lost and was a little late, but they waited for me and we headed off on our adventure. The other people on the tour were open and welcoming as was I. The guide Leon was such an engaging person. Professional, knowledgeable and energetic in the delights of their home city. This tour is a must. So glad I did it.
Mr. Stuart W. from New Zealand travelled on 13 Jun 2017:
Fantastic night out lead by such a passionate and enthusiastic guide
Mr. Chase C. from USA travelled on 13 Jun 2017:
Leon was amazing and only wish I had time for another tour with him.
Mrs. Tania S. from Australia travelled on 20 May 2017:
This was a fantastic night out. Was very reluctant to book this as we are not into wrestling. We would have missed out on a great night out. So glad we changed our minds at the last minute. Rodrigo was a great guide & very quickly we felt like we were friends. Highly recommend this night out.
Mr. Rodney F. from USA travelled on 05 May 2017:
Interesting. Guide real good. Food and drinks OK.
Mr. steve g. from USA travelled on 02 May 2017:
We had so much fun! – this was really the top tour we took of several that week! Our guide was a blast! – we were unsure of the mariachi expereience not really being fans but it turned out incredable! the Luchelibres were a whole lot of fun!!!
Mr. Georges O. from Canada travelled on 02 May 2017:
Leon was a very enthusiastic and dynamic guide. He is a great entertainer! Seeing lucha libre is a must when visiting Mexico City!
Ms. Romanyta C. from United Kingdom travelled on 01 May 2017:
Leon was great to hang out with and prepared his material well. Had great fun time!
Ms. Sarah F. from Australia travelled on 17 Apr 2017:
The guide was excellent. I can’t remember his name but he was very enthusiastic and fun to spend the evening with. The places visited were well selected and the timing was excellent. We fit everything in without rushing. It was a great night out and a highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mexico City.
Mr. James B. from USA travelled on 25 Mar 2017:
Loved the guide (I believe his name was Rodrigo), and overall the tour was great. The only negative was that one of the bars we went to was super loud – hard to meet people!
Ms. Rachel G. from Australia travelled on 23 Mar 2017:
We had the time of our lives. Our tour guide, Rodrigo, was so much fun and really knows the city. He taught us so much about culture- from mezcal to lucha libre to really experiencing the night life that Mexico City has to offer. The whole group even went out together afterwards to continue celebrating. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking to have a good time in Mexico City.
Mr. Kathleen J. from Canada travelled on 14 Mar 2017:
We had a good time with Louis and Rodrigo and Corina on our tour of the cantinas and we went to louche libre too : ) we learned a lot about Mexico City culture.
Mr. MICHAEL B. from USA travelled on 07 Mar 2017:
Diego is terrific. Great spirit and organized. The visit to the top of the Latin American tower with its views along with the visit to the Museum of Mezcal and Tequila were terrific. We greatly enjoyed the places as well as the opportunity to talk with other travellers. The wrestling match and culture was fun to experience, too. Highly recommend this activity.
Ms. Malti S. from United Kingdom travelled on 07 Mar 2017:
We only went to the cantina in the museum where there were no other people. While the group made our own atmosphere there were no opportunities to interact with locals. Perhaps choose a different cantina!
Mrs. Deepa M. from India travelled on 18 Feb 2017:
Leon was a fantastic guide and was extremely communicative and committed.
Mr. Jarret A. from Canada travelled on 07 Feb 2017:
What a great night out! The first bar was really nice and had a great view of the city from the 30th floor. The mariachi square was cool to see and the performers were amazing. Of course the lucha libre was wild and so much fun! Rodrigo was an excellent guide, very knowledgable and fun to hang out with – great recommendations on tequila and mescal!
Mr. kevin p m. from Canada travelled on 14 Jan 2017:
I had a great time. My guide, Diego Ferreira, did an excellent job from beginning to end. He was so knowledgeable and sincere, it was like a night out with an old friend; drinking, talking, exchanging stories made it one of the best times I had on my trip. Being middle aged (55) myself, I enjoyed his youthful exuberance in teaching about the culture and his instruction on the ways to drink tequila and mezcal reminded me of my own student days, then the Lucha Libre wrestling was completely off the charts, exciting and energetic. I loved every minute of it and would do it all over again. I cannot thank Diego enough for making the first day my trip so memorable and can highly recommend him to anyone looking for fun, exciting and fascinating “guys’ night out.”
Mrs. Courtney W. from Canada travelled on 09 Jan 2017:
This was one of the highlights of our travel to Mexico city – Milton was an awesome host and took care of everyone. The Tequila Museum was great, and the Luche Libre wrestling was a fantastic experience! WHAT FUN! The only problem was that we had a very large group, so whilst there was two guides to take care of everyone, getting to and from the destinations, ordering drinks/dinner took longer than expected and as such we were late to the wrestling.
Mr. Gregorio D. from USA travelled on 03 Jan 2017:
Milton and Enrique were awesome !!!!
Mr. David T. from USA travelled on 17 Dec 2016:
Diego was awesome!
Ms. Jessica M. from Australia travelled on 25 Nov 2016:
Great night out
Ms. Philippa F. from United Kingdom travelled on 22 Nov 2016:
I really enjoyed the evening. The only thing that would have made it better would have been more time at the tequilla tasting and info about the tequillas we tasted. I had hoped that part would be more like a wine tasting
Mrs. Liz P. from United Kingdom travelled on 13 Nov 2016:
Fantastic time, loved the fact we went up the tour for sunset and it was a great experience overall.
Ms. Jennifer S. from USA travelled on 11 Nov 2016:
I wholeheartedly recommend this fun, friendly, informative tour! It was a highlight of my trip to Mexico City. I had an more unusual experience as apart from one other American, English-speaking guest, the rest of the guests on the tour were Mexico City locals on a work night out. The guide, Rodrigo, made sure I was not left out at any stage and in the end it turned out to be an even more immersive experience. We started by having drinks in the Latinoamericana buiklding with incredible views of the city. We then went to a fantastic torta restaurant for delicious pork sandwiches and micheladas. We then went to Garibaldi Square for mezcal and a mariachi serenade. Being with a group of people enthusiastically singing along to songs they knew by heart and sharing a toast was such a thrill. After that it was Lucha Libre! SO MUCH FUN. So entertaining. We were whizzed back to the city and overall it was an exhilarating, entertaining experience. Highly recommended!
Ms. Sandra L. from USA travelled on 27 Sep 2016:
We had a great time. The tour guide was great, enthusiastic and informative.
Ms. Lisa K. from USA travelled on 05 Aug 2016:
The entire evening was great! I enjoyed getting to experience various cantinas, learning about some of the traditions in Mexico, including Mariachi bands and cantina culture in general. The places we visited showed a wide variety of what Mexico city has to offer and the pacing was perfect to allow for conversation, learning, but purpose. The Lucha Libre experience itself was unforgettable, with the vibe of the crowd and the enthusiasm of the fighters, the whole thing was so much fun! Rodrigo was a perfect guide. He had so much information for our group – everything from explaining aspects of the city, how to properly drink tequila, and the culture of Lucha Libre. But, he was also a great conversationalist and kept us laughing all night. I would highly recommend him as a guide to anyone using Urban Adventures!
Ms. Gisela C. from Panama travelled on 02 Aug 2016:
León hizo un muy buen trabajo. Estuvo lloviendo bastante y ni así perdió el entusiasmo. El tour incluía unas cemitas en algún lugar pero por alguna razón nunca llegamos a ir. Tal vez por la lluvia. Pero en general todo estuvo excelente, lo recomendaría full. El paseo en metro y luego en bus (por la lluvia, jeje), imperdibles.
Mr. David F. from USA travelled on 04 Jul 2016:
We had a great time with Leon! He was very knowledgeable and fun. Would definitely recommend the tour.
Mr. Eric K. from USA travelled on 23 Jun 2016:
Leon was great!
Mr. Maxwell A. from USA travelled on 10 Jun 2016:
Diego was excellent – the experience was above and beyond our expectations! Thank you!
Ms. LAURA MARCELA A. from Colombia travelled on 09 Jun 2016:
GUIDE WAS EXCELLENT AND FRIENDLY. LOVED IT!
Mr. Michael B. from USA travelled on 02 Jun 2016:
A great tour! Lucha libre was great camp fun! So was the Garibaldi square! One small problem was that it did not match the tour description exactly – the itinerary was somewhat different from the one advertised – we started with Lucha Libre and then went to Mirador Torre Latino followed by a trip to the Cantina in Garibaldi square. We also didn’t get a wrestler’s mask as a souvenir (a small thing but it was listed as an inclusion in the itinerary).
Ms. Mara M. from Canada travelled on 03 May 2016:
Great night tour…loved it all…Cantina, Mariachis, Mezcal….but the Lucha were the highlight…hilarious, silly fun!! Our guide Leon brought a good energy to the night and was knowledgeable and helpful.
Ms. Andrina O. from USA travelled on 26 Apr 2016:
you should update your tour description online- it says that tour participants get a souvenir wrestler mask, but we actually got a shot of tequila instead. (still awesome!)
Ms. Melinda C. from USA travelled on 26 Feb 2016:
Different than described. Fun though!
Ms. Emily S. from USA travelled on 18 Feb 2016:
Fantastic tour guide, participants, and night out!
Mr. Peter W. from USA travelled on 09 Feb 2016:
Our guide was great. Fun and very personable. Very much enjoyed spending time with him. I think he put us in the “safe section” for Lucha Libre. I would have been perfectly happy to dive into the midst of the crowd. The opening drink at the observation deck was fine and an opportunity to chat and get to know everyone, but I think a place more crowded with locals would have been better.
Ms. Fiona P. from Australia travelled on 12 Jan 2016:
Had a really good time and Rodrigo was very engaging, knowledgeable and fun
Ms. Caroline Z. from USA travelled on 09 Jan 2016:
Transportation was disorganized and this was probably due to poor planning of timing. We spent too much time at certain places. so Itzel told us we had to take a cab to Lucha Libre. After waiting for 15 mins, she made us walk to the subway. We should have just taken the subway all along, even though the subway was sketchy. We only got an hour at Lucha Libre and given the name of the tour, it would have been nice to have at least 2 hours there.
Ms. Brittany R. from USA travelled on 31 Dec 2015:
Itzel was such a fun tour guide! She was spunky and super energetic. I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this tour but it far exceeded our expectations. We had such a great time and would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a really fun night out in Mexico City.
Ms. Jennifer B. from USA travelled on 17 Dec 2015:
I had been looking forward to this experience FOREVER, and I was so pleased! Rodrigo is amazing and so much fun. The lucha libre was more than I ever imagined it would be. The bars were awesome. SO highly recommended.
Mr. Adam L. from Australia travelled on 14 Dec 2015:
This tour was the best time we had in Mexico, Luis our guide was an absolute legend and showed us around some local hotspots before taking us to the Luche Libre. He also translated the sledging going on in the crowd towards the wrestlers which was an absolute crack up! Anyone in Mexico City needs to do this tour.
Ms. Rebecca D. from United Kingdom travelled on 08 Dec 2015:
Luis is amazing!! A really fun safe way to get to know the city!!
Mr. Marc W. from Australia travelled on 11 Oct 2015:
I did the Mexican Night Out: Cantinas, Mariachi & Lucha Libre tour and it was great fun – drinks in an historic cantina, complete with a mariachi band and then onto the wrestling, which was hilarious. A great night out. Thanks to Pilar, who was an excellent guide!
Ms. kathleen t. from United Kingdom travelled on 28 Aug 2015:
We took this tour on our last night in Mexico City and were not disappointed. It was such fun! We visited several bars and the tequila museum before going to the Arena Mexico to watch the lucha libre wrestling. Mario our guide was fantastic – really good fun and knowledgeable.
Mr. Steve M. from Australia travelled on 28 May 2015:
Luis was a phenomenal guide who knows everyone at the bars and the areaa for Lucha Libre. There is no better way to enjoy a night out in Mexico City. Backstage meeting with one of the wrestlers was a real highlight. He also brought us to a great bar with beautiful view on Torre LatinoAmerica, followed by awesome torta at a clean, cheap shop, then cap the night off with tequila tasting at a cantina. Wonderful experience, highly recommended
Mrs. Laura W. from Mexico travelled on 07 Apr 2015:
My husband’s 20-someting-yr-old cousins were in town and we had a BLAST on this Urban Adventure. Much more than “just Friday Night Lucha Libre” the evening was a bit on the debaucherous side (in a good way)! First of all… LUIS is AWESOME. As soon as we met him I knew we were in good hands. We wandered down the crowded street from the Zocalo until Luis whisked us up to the top of Torre LatinoAmerica where we enjoyed killer views of Mexico City while sipping on cocktails. Then we settled the belly with a quick stop for an authentic torta (yummy pork sandwich) before continuing our stroll to the famous El Tenampa cantina in Plaza Garibaldi for tequila and mariachis. You’ll read about how shady Plaza Garibaldi can be… but you’re with LUIS! And Luis knows everyone and totally takes care of you!!! I’m telling you….This guy is a magician! We were totally charmed. And on to the main event via quick metro-ride! Once again Luis knows everyone along the way from peanut-vendors to the artist of hand-painted caps to the ushers who take you to your seat. You can read all about Lucha Libre so I wont go there – but I will tell you, if you want to be seated next to the guy that is screaming the most colorful and unique language in The Arena — you want to be next to Luis! #localsknow Don’t go any other way — Go in style with Luis!
Mr. Therese O. from USA travelled on 02 Mar 2014:
Loved the whole thing except the initial bar-stop, which was billed as a visit to a “cantina” but instead was an excrutiatingly noisy rock-bar, pounding music, impossible to talk. Since it was our very first stop, we couldn’t actually converse or get to know each other — otherwise, all was great later, with the wrestling and the mariachis.
